Before the Consultation. With so many choices to discuss with your florist, it is important to have certain information gathered before your consultation to ensure an accurate quote. Be sure to vet a few florists before booking a consultation – no two are the same. Each offers different pricing, inclusions, and design aesthetic. Here’s a list of what you should have ready at your floral consultation:

    Estimated guest count.
    Size of wedding party.
    What personal flowers are needed.
Indoor or outdoor ceremony and/or reception.
    Name and location of venue(s).
    Date/Season of wedding.
    Your theme or color scheme.
Possible reception layouts, number of tables, and size of tables.
    Buffet or plated meal.
Other decor ideas other than floral.
    Other vendors you have hired.
General idea of your ideal floral budget.
    Floral inspiration photos.

Tips + Tricks. When it comes to wedding florals, there are a few tricks of the trade that will help you plan and design out your wedding day.
TIP 1: Greenery is not always a cheaper option. With the popularity of greenery over the last few years, the price has increased (thank you supply and demand). One 3ft length of smilax will cost you nearly the same as three blooms.

TIP 2: Faux floral is the same, if not more, than real floral. We all know that your floral decor will not last forever, but faux floral that looks nice is more expensive than people might believe. It is also difficult to sell afterwards.

TIP 3: Some blooms are seasonal and are only available certain times of the year. Discuss with your florist replacement blooms that look similar or come at a better price.

TIP 4: Making a statement with your bridal bouquet will go a long way in your full wedding floral design. Above all other floral, guests pay most attention to what the bride carries down the aisle. Go all out on your bridal and them more simple for your bridesmaids.

TIP 5: Your photographer and guests focus their attention on the head table, so make it the focal point of your reception floral with simpler designs on your guest tables.

TIP 6: When it comes to pricing, know that you are paying for more than just the product. You are paying for the individual design from that floral professional. There are other items to consider as well, such as vessels, delivery, installations, and cleanup.
